The Nuclear Medicine Professional will be responsible for administering and interpreting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radioactive materials (radiopharmaceuticals). This role is crucial for diagnosing various diseases, monitoring treatment effectiveness, and performing targeted therapies, while ensuring radiation safety and regulatory compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clinical Duties:
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately to patients for diagnostic imaging (e.g., bone scans, thyroid scans, PET/CT scans, cardiac stress tests) and therapeutic applications.
- Operate and maintain nuclear medicine imaging equipment (e.g., SPECT/CT, PET/CT).
- Interpret nuclear medicine images and generate comprehensive diagnostic reports for clinicians.
- Ensure appropriate patient preparation and follow-up for nuclear medicine procedures.
- Collaborate with referring physicians to determine appropriate nuclear medicine studies.
- Perform therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures under supervision or as qualified (e.g., radioiodine therapy).
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain detailed records of radiopharmaceutical inventory, administration, and disposal in accordance with radiation safety regulations.
- Ensure strict adherence to radiation safety protocols for staff, patients, and the public.
- Participate in quality control and assurance programs for nuclear medicine equipment and procedures.
- Educational Duties:
- Educate patients about nuclear medicine procedures, including preparation and potential risks.
- Stay updated with advancements in nuclear medicine technology, radiopharmaceuticals, and diagnostic/therapeutic techniques.
