The Ophthalmologist will specialize in the medical and surgical care of the eyes and visual system. This includes diagnosing and treating eye diseases, performing eye surgeries, and prescribing corrective lenses, ensuring comprehensive eye care services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clinical Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including vision testing, intraocular pressure measurement, and fundoscopy.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions, such as cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disorders, corneal diseases, and refractive errors.
- Perform various eye surgeries, including cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, and procedures for retinal detachment.
- Prescribe and fit corrective lenses, including eyeglasses and contact lenses.
- Provide emergency eye care for acute injuries or sudden vision loss.
- Manage ocular manifestations of systemic diseases (e.g., diabetic retinopathy).
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient eye health records.
- Collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmic nurses, and other specialists to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Participate in departmental meetings and quality assurance programs related to ophthalmic services.
- Educational Duties:
- Educate patients on eye health, disease prevention, and post-operative care.
- Mentor junior medical staff and students in ophthalmic principles.
- Stay updated with advancements in ophthalmology, including new diagnostic technologies and surgical techniques.
