The Obstetrician and Gynecologist will provide comprehensive medical and surgical care to female patients, specializing in pregnancy, childbirth, and the health of the female reproductive system. This role includes antenatal care, delivery services, postnatal care, and the management of gynecological conditions, in accordance with national maternal health guidelines in Ethiopia.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clinical Duties:
- Provide complete antenatal care, including regular check-ups, monitoring fetal development, and managing pregnancy-related complications.
- Conduct safe and effective deliveries, including vaginal births and Caesarean sections, as required.
- Offer comprehensive postnatal care to mothers and newborns.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of gynecological conditions, including menstrual disorders, reproductive health issues, and benign/malignant conditions.
- Perform gynecological surgeries and procedures as necessary.
- Provide family planning services and counseling.
- Respond to obstetric and gynecological emergencies promptly and effectively.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate confidential patient records.
- Collaborate with midwives, nurses, and other specialists to ensure holistic patient care.
- Participate in departmental audits and quality improvement initiatives related to maternal and reproductive health.
- Educational Duties:
- Educate patients and their families on reproductive health, pregnancy, and childbirth.
- Mentor junior medical staff and residents in obstetrics and gynecology.
