The General Medical Practitioner (GP) will provide primary medical care to patients of all ages, serving as the first point of contact for a wide range of health concerns. This role involves diagnosing common illnesses, managing chronic conditions, providing preventative care, and referring patients to specialists, when necessary, with a focus on holistic family care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clinical Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive medical consultations, including history taking, physical examinations, and basic diagnostic assessments.
- Diagnose and treat common acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Order and interpret basic laboratory tests and imaging studies.
- Provide preventative care, including immunizations, health screenings, and lifestyle counseling.
- Manage chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and asthma, providing long-term follow-up.
- Refer patients to specialists for complex or specialized medical conditions.
- Perform minor procedures (e.g., wound dressing, suturing, simple excisions) as per scope of practice.
- Participate in on-call rotations as required.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient medical records.
- Coordinate care with other healthcare providers and allied health professionals.
- Adhere to hospital policies and national healthcare guidelines.
- Educational Duties:
- Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and management.
- Engage in continuous professional development to update medical knowledge and skills.
