Key Responsibilities and Duties
1. Advanced Technical & User Support
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex hardware, software, and network configuration issues reported by end-users.
  • Diagnoses, troubleshooting, and resolve complex IT incidents involving desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripheral equipment.
  • Oversee the helpdesk ticketing system, ensuring proper classification, prioritization, tracking, and timely resolution of support requests.
  • Provide standard and bespoke IT onboarding training for new hires, alongside ongoing technical guidance and documentation for existing staff.
2. Network & Systems Administration Support
  • Assist in the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of local network infrastructure (LAN/WAN), including routers, switches, access points, and firewalls.
  • Support server and cloud-based environments (e.g., Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Azure/AWS) by managing user access, group policies, permissions, and security controls.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain software applications, system patches, updates, and endpoint security/malware prevention measures.
  • Execute and verify regular system data backups, archival processes, and disaster recovery testing to safeguard organizational information.
3. IT Operations & Asset Management
  • Maintain a meticulous, up-to-date inventory of all IT hardware, software licenses, networks, and peripheral assets.
  • Manage local technology infrastructure for corporate events, board meetings, or video-conferencing sessions.
  • Coordinate with external IT vendors, internet service providers (ISPs), and equipment suppliers to manage service level agreements (SLAs), handle repairs, and source spare parts.
  • Monitor system error trends to identify underlying structural issues and proactively propose cost-effective technical improvements.
4. Compliance, Security & Reporting
  • Enforce organizational IT security policies, safeguarding standards, and data protection compliance regulations.
  • Analyze IT support data and prepare regular dashboards or performance reports regarding system health, network uptime, and hardware life cycles.
  • Support the IT Manager in drafting business cases, technical specifications, and user requirements for upcoming technology initiatives.
5. Job Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 and above years of progressive experience in IT support, helpdesk operations, or systems maintenance.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting corporate operating systems (Windows and macOS) and core cloud suites (Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace).
  • Demonstrated experience handling network equipment (Cisco, Ubiquiti, etc.) and server management.
  • Technical certifications in Network+ / Security+ are highly desirable

Job Summary

The Senior IT Assistant plays a pivotal role in maintaining, optimizing, and supporting the organization's technology infrastructure. Acting as the senior tier of user support and a key collaborator in network/systems maintenance, this role ensures the continuous availability, security, and integrity of all hardware, software, and local networks. The incumbent serves as an escalation point for complex technical issues and frequently assists in leading minor IT projects, managing inventories, and training staff.
