Position Summary

ABH Partners PLC is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and dual-skilled Biomedical Sales and Service Engineer to join its Alliance Medical Solution Division. The successful candidate will drive revenue growth by selling high-value imported medical devices, ICU/diagnostic/laboratory equipment, and health system solutions to public and private healthcare clients. Simultaneously, the engineer will deliver post-sales technical support, including equipment installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and end-user training.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  1. Sales & Business Development (40%)
  • Identify and convert business opportunities in public/private hospitals, diagnostic centers, clinical laboratories, and healthcare projects across Ethiopia.
  • Prepare winning commercial and technical proposals, tender submissions, product quotations, and client agreements in line with Ethiopian public procurement standards.
  • Conduct high-impact technical demonstrations, presentations, and consultations to medical directors, procurement committees, and biomedical department heads.
  • Maintain strong, long-term working relationships with key decision-makers and clinical procurement stakeholders.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor strategies, and pricing dynamics to position Alliance Medical Solution products effectively.
  1. Technical Field Services & Equipment Maintenance (40%)
  • Perform on-site pre-installation surveys, unboxing, installation, testing, calibration, and commissioning of imported medical equipment.
  • Provide scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) and emergency Corrective Maintenance (CM)/troubleshooting for installed units.
  • Deliver comprehensive operational and basic technical maintenance training to healthcare staff, clinicians, and hospital engineers.
  • Manage service-level agreements (SLAs), spare parts inventory requirements, and field service reports for every job completed.
  1. Regulatory Compliance & Support (20%)
  • Assist with Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) regulatory documentation, technical file submissions, and product registration compliance.
  • Support customs clearance, port clearance inspections, and technical verification of imported medical shipments.
  • Liaise with international equipment manufacturers and supply partners for technical support, firmware updates, and factory-level warranty claims.

Job Requirements & Minimum Qualifications

Requirement Criteria

Education

Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Biomedical Engineering or Bio-Medical Instrumentation Science.

Work Experience

Minimum 4 years of direct experience in medical equipment sales, installation, service maintenance, and technical commissioning within Ethiopia.

Domain Knowledge

Hands-on diagnostic/service experience with ICU equipment, radiology/imaging, OR/surgery, diagnostic laboratory machines, or life-support units.

Regulatory Knowledge

Practical familiarity with EFDA registration procedures, public tender bidding processes, and Ethiopian medical supply chain regulations.

Technical Skills

Expertise in electrical/electronic circuit diagnostics, mechanical assemblies, calibration tools, and biomedical test instruments.

Commercial Skills

Proven sales track record, consultative selling approach, tender negotiation skills, and pipeline management.

Languages

Fluency in English and Amharic (both written and spoken).

Mobility

Willingness to travel across regional health centers within Ethiopia on short notice.
